David Lee Rodriguez
David Lee Rodriguez is from Hereford, TX. and resides in Lubbock, TX. David Lee, who is a bassist, composer/arranger, and a singer/songwriter plays a wide array of musical styles that include Country, Blues, Funk, Fusion, Rock, Tejano/Latin Jazz, Progressive Jazz, Folk, Newgrass, and Americana. David Lee’s biggest influences are his father E.P., Jay Perez, and George Strait.
David Lee comes from a strong and long line of musicians. His father, E.P., was the lead trumpet player for Tejano legends such as Little Joe, Johnny Hernandez, Charro Negro, Sunny and the Sunglows, the late Carlos Miranda, his uncle the late Jr Perales and Algo Simple (to name a few). E.P. got David Lee his first gig and recording session with the West Texas Powerhouse band "La Herencia" when he was 13 yrs old, and the rest is history. David Lee became the bassist for Hacienda Records Tejano Artist, "Algo Simple" and toured nationwide. Currently, David has finished the works on his first solo project with 14x Grammy and Latin Grammy Award winner producer Gilbert Velasquez and has signed with VMB Music Group label. One of David’s recordings was for Grammy nominated Jerry Lopez on his latest live CD "Live at The Lensic" on the opening cut entitled "Canta Conmigo". He has performed/recorded with EMI Latin recording artist Oxygeno, Navajo Bluesman Stanlie Kee & Step in Blues Band, and Native American Actor Gary Farmer & The TroubleMakers, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame artist Brian Hardgroove, Sean Healen, Ernestine Romero, Gonzalo, Al Hurricane Jr, Roberto Griego, and JMA & Hard Livin’ Band.
David Was nominated for Best Male Vocalist and Rising Star for the NMHMA. David has been sponsored by Behringer Bass Equipment and Budweiser True Music. He has performed with the world-renown outdoor musical drama "Texas Legacies" as well as their outreach touring band "Texas X-press". He received the "International Association of Jazz Educators Special Citation for Outstanding Musicianship" for Bass solo at the 29th Annual UNC/Greeley Jazz Festival. He also recorded and performed as a soloist for the WTAMU Jazz Ensemble, toured as a special guest bassist with the WTAMU Symphonic Band, performed and toured as the only student in the WTAMU Faculty Jazz Quintet. He performs and gives clinics to many High Schools music programs in the Tri-State area. He has shared the stage and/or performed with many artist including Tejano music greats such as Little Joe, Jay Perez, Mazz, La Mafia, Roberto Pulido, Ruben Ramos, La Fiebre, and Country music legends Pat Flynn (from New Grass Revival), Carmen Acciaiolli, David E. Coe, Gary Mcguire (Sammy Kershaw band leader), Lee Roy Van Dyke, Steve Wariner, Restless Heart, Holly Dunn, Don Edwards, Riders In The Sky, Andy Wilkenson, and Michael Martin Murphey.
